How can we improve Simkl?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Automatically move shows to On Hold after missing x episodes.

    Automatically move TV shows under "Watching" to "On hold" after missing 3-5 episodes.
    I have a number of shows that are backup (oh duck I've got nothing else to watch), that are generally not interesting enough to warrant having on the calendar, but still "good enough" if there's nothing else.

  2. Single-page countdown for all types

    Instead of having to switch between multiple tabs in the app to find countdowns for each type only, please have a single-page countdown that displays upcoming air/release date of shows/anime/movies altogether.

    Additionally, please add to-be-released shows/anime/movies to the countdown as well.

    If exact air/release date is unknown, please just add to the end of the list with a ? so at least we can track that it's coming in the future.

  4. Put "Time left to watch" back on the bottom of the list of shows

    There used to be info on how many days of TV you had left unwatched at the bottom of the lists. That's gone? I found that really useful, please bring it back.

    V2 Beta uses a different way of showing a list of your shows, divided by number of shows per page for better performance, while V1 showed all shows on one page, so not easy to add a total counter when it only selects a portion of your shows to display without sacrifising performance.

    We do show time stats on watching list eps left to watc in your stats page, the second option currently is to switch to V1 interfacte at https://simkl.com/settings/pro/

  5. Ability to extend/minimize Recently Watched

    Ability to extend/minimize Recently Watched on dashboard, so you can easily see more than two items. As shown in the image.

  6. Customizable Rating Date/Time

    Currently there is no option to be able to set any “Custom Watched” date hopefully it will be available soon, but the rating date is always locked to “now.”

    That often creates confusion—especially if you watched something weeks ago and only just gave it a score.

    Consider adding an option where, When you mark a title as “Watched” (and haven’t rated it yet),

    • you’re prompted to rate it immediately, with the rating date automatically matching your watched date.

    • At minimum, providing a way to manually edit the rating date would be a big improvement. (When you rated this)

  7. Show voice actors etc. based on the users set language

    Pay tribute to those whose voices make not only Animes come to life, but also transfer jokes to our mother tongue. Never ask yourself again where you know that voice from.

    Sorted or filtered by language, maybe a setting in the user settings that uses the browsers language as default. Fallback could be English.

    Please add all the Time Zones under your Profile Settings. I live in Canada and unfortunately I can't choose my Time Zone which is Mountain Time.

  14. UI improvements for more menu

    These are all improvements for the menu that appears when hovering over a film/tv show. The one that shows "More" menu and the rating at the bottom.

    First of all, get rid of the menu. Don't make me click twice to add a movie to my plan to watch, watched or whatever. On hover, line some icons on the left and right and have the the words of what the icon does appear when you hover over it. It should only take one click for me to mark something as something I want to watch, have watched or whatever.

  15. Greater compartmentalizing

    Allow the user to compartmentalize the website, to see any combination of the categories instead of all three. i.e. Anime and movies only. TV shows and movies are already heavily embedded in culture, thus tracking and getting recommendations isn't necessary for some. Just the same, a lot of people don't like anime or TV. Give the capability to disable these sections, or minimize them.

    An icon or indicator if a tv show is either currently running, on hiatus or concluded.

    As well as highlight indicators such as premiere episode, midseason final, season final or series final

  18. Correct descriptions/types of shows etc

    I've noticed that some of the shows do not have the correct description and, for example, in the anime section some were described as ecchi while they aren't.

  19. show the name of the movie/tvshow/anime on the lenguage of the location of the user

    Sometimes it is hard to find a movie, tvshow or anime, because you do not know in what lenguage it's the name on Simkl.

    Would be great that by the "location" option on the profile settings, the web show the names the movie, tvshow or anime have on that location.

    IMDB, show on the info of a movie,tvshow or anime, the different names it have for some locations. Maybe Simkl could take the names and locations by there.

  20. Deep Linking to apps and devices

    Deep Linking with other apps like HBO go etc possibly DVRs like Media center (I still use a cable card tuner with Xbox 360s as Extenders to watch and record TV Ceton "The manufacturer of my tuner (now defunct) made a app that tracks my viewing. Also TiVo linking might help those willing to pay for the guide! Something I get free with media center! I am beta testing a device soon to hit the market (sorry I can't revel what it is due to a NDA) this device deep links with my DVR and Roku apps to track usage…
