How can we improve Simkl?

  1. Trakt Watch History Import Issue – Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2

    Hello Simkl Support,

    I found an issue while importing my watch history from Trakt to Simkl.

    "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" imported only partially. Season 1 was imported correctly, but Season 2 was not imported at all.

    My Season 2 watch history exists on Trakt, but none of the Season 2 episodes appeared in Simkl after the import.

    Show: Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

    Issue Details:

    • Season 1 imported correctly.
    • Season 2 did not import.
    • The watch history for Season 2 is present on Trakt.
    • Other shows imported successfully.

    This appears to be a mapping or synchronization issue affecting only Season 2…

  3. "Collected" tag/flag for episodes

    Trakt used to do this for me, then then broke it and then... well, we all know what's happening with that dumpster fire!

    Essentially all I'm after is a way to track episodes / movies that I have in my collection (ie have ripped / downloaded). I don't care about format (VHS, 720p, 4K... doesn't matter), just that I have it. A tick box to say "got it" is all I need.

    A count of episodes (so I can easily spot missing ones) would be an additional lovely thing to have.

  4. Option to choose if you want separate tabs or combined.

    So, when I'm looking for something to watch, I'd like the option to combine everything (TV, Movies & Anime) instead of having to go to each tab and search through them. Would it be possible to get an option where we can combine all three on the discovery/recommendation page? I'd also like lists to be combined, too, instead of having to separate them.

  5. More Free Movies/Shows/Series

    I am from Greece and we have a free TVsite called ERTflix that every now and then hosts good shows, series and movies, I am also aware of the USA Tubi, it's locked to americans but still.
    My notion is, it would be a cool accomplishmend to come in condact with as many of those local TV sites (usually free ones) and offer the information to us where we can watch the material we wish for free.
    For exhample last month ertflix had Spiderman No Way Home for free and Tubi Gladiator. Not bad. They always have a movie that…

  6. Finished seasons on profile page

    I don't want to be seen as ungratefull because the site is really good and shouldn't be taken for granded but all this time I was thinking that, to me, it would be great if I could have in my profile page, among the premiers, last aired etc a category/carusel "Just Finished" (season*), because I prefair to bing my series.

  8. After import, I can't see what was not imported

    I imported one of my anime trakt lists but it then says "4 not anime" but there's no way to find out what they are! A larger issue is then just to allow us to have multi-medium lists. I don't unsterstand why they have to be discretely separated into TV, Movies, or Anime

  9. In-app purchases for upgrading plans

    I fairly often get Google Play Cards from work and I would love to have the option to pay for my monthly subscription via in-app purchase on my Android.

    I don’t see API documentation for listing or posting comments. Unlocking that feature for third party clients would help comments sections be more lively. Thanks!

    Hello,

    it would be really useful if SIMKL could provide official API endpoints for browsing and reading public lists and user custom lists.

    • custom lists
    • most liked / trending lists
    • user-created lists
    • reading the actual contents of a list

    It would be great to have endpoints that allow developers to:
    * fetch list metadata
    * browse lists
    * browse user custom lists
    * retrieve all items inside a list

  14. When selecting "Marked as watched" have a confirmation before removing the watch history

    Hi there. I've come from Trakt and I'm still getting used to things. When I saw "Marked as watched" on something I had seen, I selected it. The expected result was that it would show me when I had seen it. The actual result was that it unmarked it as watched, and deleted the history. Now I know how it works I'll avoid it, however, I think it would be a good idea to have a "are you sure you want to delete all watch history for this episode/movie?" confirmation.

    Maybe even a 5 second timer after where you have…

  16. Ignore tags while generating recommendation

    I kinda would like if I can make recommendations ignore specific tags when generating
    because everytimes it fills it with christmas movies and talking animals movies which I just don't watch and don't want to watch (maybe with even possibility to still have sequels in)

  17. Social Watch Activity: Which Friends Are Watching / Recently Watched Episode or Film

    I would love to see SIMKL introduce a more social “watch activity” system for movies, TV episodes, and anime episodes.

    Right now, we can already see friend ratings, but it would be amazing if SIMKL expanded this into real-time and recent viewing activity.

    1. Show who is currently watching

    For a movie, TV episode, or anime episode, display:

    • Which users are currently watching it
    • How many people are currently watching
    • How many of your friends (followers/following) are currently watching

    Example:

    • “63 people watching”
    • “5 of your friends are watching now”

    This would make SIMKL feel much more alive and social.

  18. Basic Age Protection

    currently a minor can log on to the front page and be exposed to R18+ show posters/titles

    it would be great to at least add protection where they can select thier age before the site loads and have the website only show age appropriate shows to the age they selected.

    it does not have to be invasive and have awful age verification nonsense included, it just needs to give consent back to the viewer so they can't accidentally see things they did not want to.

    i have also seen improvement ideas on this forum about adding hentai and other nsfw…

  20. Show rating hints everywhere

    When you go to rate an item from your unrated page at https://simkl.com/YOURUSERID/history/ratings/?unrated=1 there is a really helpful tooltip giving a description of each star rating.

    It would be great if this was shown throughout the UI any time we go to rate an item.

    I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like in case it was unclear what I'm referring to.
