How can we improve Simkl?

  1. UI improvements: sharpness images/icons

    At the moment there are a bunch of icons/images that don't support retina screens (@3x). They look blurry on for example your iPhone or Mac. Ideally all icons are used as SVG (which most are already) or if its not possible to use SVG support at least @3x png versions.

  2. Bug: Release email template UI

    The email template has some UI issues.

    1. On mobile the artwork is set to 100% width with a fixed height resulting in a stretched image.
    2. On desktop the box around the information is not 100% aligned with the artwork.

    I hope these adjustments can be made.

    Also is there a reason why the backslash \ is used over the forwardslash / in the copies?

  3. Movie not appearing on profile

    The movie Kubi (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27502365/) doesn't show on the plan-to-watch or completed lists. It was also hard to find on a normal search (I had to use the imdb tag).

  4. True integration with Apple seven year Apple TV download for all connected apps true pattern matching foundation

    While track /simkl have your history since you've started using those platform, with a press of a button, you can get seven years of Apple, super detailed history that currently is not supported by any of the platforms for import as data written as it is except for seer since it does not have an IMDb ID for the object something that is completely redundant when you have the data that includes comprehensive data very easy to implement very groundbreaking. This is the true pattern, matching infrastructure that we need in order to get predictions that matter.

  5. Jellyfin SIMKL plugin - Two way sync

    Currently the SIMKL plugin for Jellyfin only sends to SIMKL once it hits a scrobble percentage. But if I find something I have previously watched on SIMKL and then mark it as watched there, I would love for it to send that information to Jellyfin too.

    Just because I don't currently have a certain Show or Movie, it doesn't mean I might not purchase it in the future. At that point it would be nice to not have to manually mark it as watched if SIMKL already has it marked as watched.

    When I search (in anime) random title just want to see season 1,2,3 etc I don't want ova's and other specials

  7. Small wording suggestion for the end-of-list counter

    Right now it reads "You have seen 98 of 98 results from this list." On a site built around tracking what you've watched, "seen" reads as "watched" at first glance. I did a double take thinking I'd somehow marked all 98 as seen.

    Something neutral would clear it up instantly, e.g.:
    - "Displaying 98 of 98 results from this list"
    - "Listing 98 of 98 items"
    - "Items 98 of 98 from list"

    Tiny thing, but it would remove an ambiguity that's unique to watch-tracking context. Thanks for all the work on the site!

  8. Show the mobile progress bar and episode total on desktop Watching lists

    On mobile, each show or anime has a clear yellow progress bar and the total number of episodes.
    On desktop, hovering a title only shows a yellow bar under the row. There is no clear bar and no episode total. Visitors on desktop cannot tell at a glance how far the profile owner has gotten. Mobile already gives that. Desktop should too. This should apply to both TV Shows and Anime Watching lists.

    Request:

    • On desktop My TV Shows and My Anime Watching lists, show the same clear yellow progress bar that mobile uses.

  9. Season number under anime titles is inconsistent. Show every season or remove the label.

    On anime lists, some titles show a season number under the name. Other seasons in the same franchise do not.

    Example (Attack on Titan):

    Attack on Titan → shows Season 1 under the title
    Attack on Titan Season 2 → in the list, but no season number under the title
    Attack on Titan Season 3 (part 1 / part 2) → in the list, but no season number under the title
    Attack on Titan Final Season / The Final Season → shows Season 4 under the title

    Season 2 and Season 3 are on the list. The under-title season label…

  10. On profile lists, make the user’s rating yellow instead of IMDb / MAL

    On someone else’s My Movies / My TV Shows / My Anime, IMDb and MAL ratings are yellow. The profile owner’s rating is not.
    Yellow pulls the eye first. On a profile, that person’s rating should be the one that stands out. Right now IMDb / MAL look more important than the user’s score.
    The list owner can already hide IMDb and MAL ratings and save that layout. This request is only for visitors, because visitors get the default layout. In that default, IMDb / MAL are yellow.

  11. Let the visitor default sort on My Movies, My TV Shows, and My Anime be changed from "Rank"

    Every time I open someone else’s My Movies, My TV Shows, or My Anime, it feels like I am seeing IMDb Top 250 or MAL Top Anime. Everything is ordered by IMDB or MAL Ranking, so every profile looks the same. There is no uniqueness.

    My Movies, My TV Shows, and My Anime always open on "Rank" for visitors. The list owner can already change sort and save it. That saved sort is only for the owner. This request is not “show visitors the owner’s saved sort.” What is missing: a way to change the visitor default so that My…

  15. Movie/Series-posters

    Change your movie or series poster!

    We should be able to easily change movie/series posters (for ourselves). For example, this would make it easier to customize multiple copies of movies in lists. This was easily done in the TV-Time app. Below is an example of this. Unfortunately, TV-Time is no longer with us. Users thought this was so cool! Would it perhaps be possible to design this idea?

  16. Allow sorting tv shows by time left to watch

    In the "My TV Shows" section, please add a "My time left to watch" option. This would sort the shows by the time remaining in them that is unwatched.

    The closest thing to it, that currently exists, is the "My Eps. Left to Watch" option. However, this is less helpful given different shows can have episodes of very different average lengths.I would like to be able to know which shows in my back-catalogue would be quickest to finish off.

    It already has this information to pull from too. If you use the "card" view, it gives an estimate of time…

  17. Add Library import and sync to Jellyfin scrobble pugin

    Love to have a new Default List to show Movies and Shows I have in my Library at home.

    Ideally, for me, this new Library List would have a Import option in the already available Jellyfin Scrobble App and would auto-update when you add a new item to the Jellyfin Libary (be great to have for Plax, Emby etc.. too for those that use those)

    In a perfect world, it'd be great to have secondary options like with Watched list for when purchased and what format i have it on, DVD, BluRay, Digital Purchase for this, maybe a note for…

    Example Pages:

    The current filler list page on SIMKL is very amazingly designed it pretty much has all that a user require, but still a few features that would make it overpowered for anime fans, that are missing like:

    1. Ability to hide episode title (Spoiler protections)

    2. A lot of time, new watcher of Naruto or Bleach or One Piece, often have the same question,

    • Can I Skip this episode?
    • Is this episode worth watching?
    • Is this filler actually good?
    • Safe to Skip?

    3. Maybe also showing a small stats for: Watched

  19. Import one show at a time from Trakt or CSV

    It would be nice if the import was not all or nothing with Trakt and instead was more granular I'd like to choose the shows I import. This is possible with CSV but you cannot import the watched date and time for the individual episodes
