1. Apple TV and Android TV app

   Please make an app for Apple TV. Something like SIMKL Lists adapted to tvOS from iOS would be adequate. But ideally something more along the lines of what Trakt provides in their 2 series apps. Ideally I could replicate the flows I currently use w/ Trakt.

   • Ability to navigate to a show/movie, view seasons, and individual episodes.
   • a button from the series, season, or episode to watch the show -- pressing watch button on show would pop up either the first season or first ep in app or Plex or Infuse -- pressing watch button on season would drop you in the season in app or Plex or Infuse -- pressing watch button on episode would drop you in the episode or the season w/ the ep and ideally having it chosen in app or Plex or Infuse
   • add/remove items from a watchlist or any other custom lists
   • search for shows/movies/actors, etc.
     
   • bonus would be able to add tags to any of the above (which would help replace the functionality of Library/Collection in Trakt).
   • ability to arbitrarily order Watch/To Watch lists to create a custom queue (or at least the ability to create a queue perhaps as a separate list).
   • ability to set state, watched, watching, queued, etc.

3. UX enhancement - Unify the search box

   Summary : Users are dumb, help them and reduce the simkl teams support workload.

   The vast majority of support threads are along the lines of "My show/movie/animie" is not listed

   🔹 Missing - 68 support threads
   🔹 Missing Movie - 244 support threads
   🔹 Missing tv show - 358 support threads

   If the search results were unified i.e. searching for "Utopia" gives the result for the TV Show, The Movie and The Anime, in one place, reducing the number of "my thing is missing / please add it" threads would be reduced.

   Lets assume that most users will not click through to the "genre tab" / simkltvsubmenu . Users are conditioned to click on search and getting a jumble of results, on one page that they scroll down on. The moment they start scrolling down the, "genre" tabs on top of the page disappear, and users assume that the visible results they are scrolling through are all there is. Even if the "genre tab" was persistent while scrolling, a lot of users will not click to the next tab, because they have been taught that new results / new things appear when you scroll down 🤷

   The current search flow design is logical and elegant.Sadly the vast majority of users are neither logical nor elegant, ( starting with me 😃 ).

   Summary : Users are dumb, help them and reduce the simkl teams support workload.

4. Personal recommendations based on personal ratings

   Currently, Simkl generates recommendations based on what you've watched. It would be much better to build recommendations based on personal ratings. For example, I don't want to see something similar that I marked as 1-5, for example, which is kind of more logical.

5. Dub completion notifications + dub filter and infos in general

   Hey! I was referred here by Azmarine from the forum. I'm a VIP member and honestly one of those people who recommends SIMKL to basically everyone I know, so this comes from a good place!

   There's one thing that's been genuinely frustrating me for a while though. I watch a lot of shows and anime dubbed, and SIMKL only notifies me when something finished airing, not when the dub is done. It sounds minor but it really isn't. I get excited about a new show or season, start watching, get invested after like 4 episodes and then the dub just stops. Sometimes there aren't even subs available until a dub exists. This happens to me multiple times a month and every time it stings a little more considering how much I love this platform otherwise.

   What I'd love to see:

   A "dub completed" notification option separate from airing, a filter to check whether something is even dubbed at all, and more dub info on show and episode pages in general. Like being able to see how many episodes are already dubbed, which languages are available and so on. Right now that info is just missing and it makes it hard to plan what to watch.

   Would be great to hear if the team has any of this on their radar!

6. See all comments posted by a user similar to how History works

   Would be great if we had an option to view all comments (that we leave) just as we can view our history, similar to a certain website called trakt.tv (which has recently gone to shaite, unfortunately) excuse my language, silly me.
   But anyhow, viewing all of our comments plus the ability to import them from trakt would be a huge plus, thanks!

7. A Calendar option that shows when Dub is released

   Currently the the calendar only shows when the sub episodes of a show are released. It would be cool if there was a filter to show only when the dub is released.

9. More obvious UX for marking a show as watched, planning to watch, etc

   Every time I go to change the status of a movie or TV show from planning to watch to watched or something like that, there's some brief confusion as to what the status is. The UI just doesn't make it very obvious if an option is selected or not already. I would really like to see improvement here

10. Ability to ignore/untrack specific seasons for a show

    Add the ability to ignore or stop tracking a specific season or episode from Unwatched. This would be for cases where the show has standalone seasons you picked it up in a later season with no intention of going back. This way your unwatched episodes isn’t 200+.

11. On-site Notification Center for New Releases

    Simkl currently supports email and push notifications for new episodes, films, and anime, but some may find these channels overwhelming or easy to miss. E-Mails get buried in crowded inboxes, and mobile push notifications are quickly dismissed and forgotten.

    Thus the idea to introduce a dedicated, persistent notification system directly on the Simkl website.

    Key Features:
    - On-site Notification Center / Meta Box
    A clickable icon (e.g. bell) in the header or sidebar showing the number of unread notifications.
    - Structured History View
    A full-page view listing all past notifications grouped by date and type (TV, anime, movie), with filters and search.

    • Notification Content Includes:
      -- Type (TV series/anime/movie)
      -- Title, season/episode number, release date
      -- Direct link to the Simkl page of the item
      -- Short description (optional)
      -- “New” badge for unread items

    • Read / Unread Tracking
      Clicking the meta box or the history page marks notifications as read.
      Unread count shown globally (e.g. “You have 3 new items”).
      Option to manually mark individual notifications as read/unread.

    • User Preferences, like the ones for E-Mail, Push and so on
      Choose what gets shown (TV/anime/movies).
      Enable/disable on-site notifications separately from email/push.

    This provides a focused and non-intrusive way for users to stay up to date. It increases engagement directly on the Simkl platform, without relying on external services that may be ignored or filtered.

    Bonus Ideas:
    Badge counters per type: e.g. TV (2), Anime (1)
    Live small preview popup when new items are added

12. When selecting "Marked as watched" have a confirmation before removing the watch history

    Hi there. I've come from Trakt and I'm still getting used to things. When I saw "Marked as watched" on something I had seen, I selected it. The expected result was that it would show me when I had seen it. The actual result was that it unmarked it as watched, and deleted the history. Now I know how it works I'll avoid it, however, I think it would be a good idea to have a "are you sure you want to delete all watch history for this episode/movie?" confirmation.

    Maybe even a 5 second timer after where you have an "undo" button while the loading bar of 5 seconds counts down.

13. Add option to list only free streaming, not ones you have to pay for.

    I love that I can choose movies that are already streaming so I can easily pick my next movie for the night. I also love that I can choose all the apps I have and it tells me where I can watch the movie I want. What I would love is to be able to see which movies are free on one of the streaming apps I already have, rather than having to click on the movie and then finding out that it's on Prime but I have to pay $19.99 to stream it.

14. Show voice actors etc. based on the users set language

    Pay tribute to those whose voices make not only Animes come to life, but also transfer jokes to our mother tongue. Never ask yourself again where you know that voice from.

    Sorted or filtered by language, maybe a setting in the user settings that uses the browsers language as default. Fallback could be English.

16. Upgrade apps

    Please expand the functionality of the applications. At the moment, the available options are very limited.
    Add the same features that already exist on the website: adding friends, creating lists, ratings and reviews, and full profile functionality.
    Also, enable subscription purchases directly through the app.
    Please ensure that when users tap on buttons, they are not redirected to the website, but can access all features within the app itself.

20. Social Watch Activity: Which Friends Are Watching / Recently Watched Episode or Film

    I would love to see SIMKL introduce a more social “watch activity” system for movies, TV episodes, and anime episodes.

    Right now, we can already see friend ratings, but it would be amazing if SIMKL expanded this into real-time and recent viewing activity.

    1. Show who is currently watching

    For a movie, TV episode, or anime episode, display:

    • Which users are currently watching it
    • How many people are currently watching
    • How many of your friends (followers/following) are currently watching

    Example:

    • “63 people watching”
    • “5 of your friends are watching now”

    This would make SIMKL feel much more alive and social.

    2. Show recent watch activity

    Add a section like:

    • “Recently watched by friends”
    • “Friends who watched this in the last 24h / 7d / 30d”

    This would help users discover trending content among their own social circle instead of only relying on global popularity.

    Example:

    • “Andrew watched this yesterday”
    • “3 friends finished this episode this week”

    3. Improve the Friend Ratings panel

    The current friend ratings section is nice, but it could become much more useful with extra controls.

    Suggested improvements:

    Add a limit selector
    - Show 5 / 10 / 20 friends

    Sort ratings by:
    - Most recently watched
    - Highest rating
    - Closest friends
    - Most active users

    Show:
    - Last watched date
    - Rewatch count
    - Watching status
    -- Watching
    -- Completed
    --- Rewatching

    Add hover tooltip or quick profile preview

    Example:

    • “Rated 9 • Watched 2 days ago”
