How can we improve Simkl?

  3. Search/DB improvements

    Improve search functionality.
    Improve the DB to include staff/cast.
    Allow us to search by director or actor.
    Give us staff/cast info, and then allow us to click on a particular staff's name to find more of that person's work.

  5. wrong output from filters

    Hi devs,

    Me once more, it's just an heads up.
    I complained a while ago about timeouts and wrong outputs because of that. And that was fixed, as i was really happy to see that to be fixed.
    After the fix i added a ton of series to my list and now I see that the results when looking for series "not in my list" i get a result back, but it still contains items from my list.

    I'm not looking for a solution on this issue because i am that one off.

    But it's more a kind of kudos…

  6. iOS 1Password login integration (with GitHub link)

    Please add 1Password login support.

    I routinely get logged out, don’t know why, and I use an email and ungodly long password that I keep in 1Password. It’s kind of a PITA to nav to the email login page, flip to 1Password, copy email, flip to SIMKL, flip back for the password, then flip to SIMKL.

    Bonus annoying is usually I’m trying to open the app and search for something in my clipboard. Obviously this doesn’t work when I discover I got logged out.

    Hi Jeffrey. could you please let us know at [email protected] in what app do you log in, or website and in which OS\browser. Have you tried connecting your Facebook or Google account in login settings so you don’t have to enter the password?

  7. roku integration

    I love the Netflix features in the Chrome extension; I actually joined SIMKL for the Random button. I'd love to see those features available when watching Netflix in other ways, specifically through the Netflix app on Roku. Not sure if it's at all technically possible, but if it is, please consider it.

  8. Display episodes as an overview list with names and watched button. (For unordered TV series)

    Simki works well for series that are logically ordered into seasons, but not for episode which are disjoint. I'm watching episodes of the NHK documentary series Begin Japanology:

    I would like to be able to easily mark some episodes watched, but I haven't watched them in any particular order.

    Currently I can mark episodes by season, but without labels, which is useless since episode number has no meaning. If I go to the episode page, I have to individually click into an episode to mark it as viewed, which is horrifically inconvenient.

    What I need is an option to…

  9. Navigating to A T.V. Show without [enter] doesn't work in edge cases

    Try Entering
    "House M.D." into the search box. Since the database doesn't consider all of the titles (House M.D.) is the full title of "House", so it navigates to some other show, instead of doing a fuzzy search.

    You can change\remove your watching status and rating in tv\movie details. Will look into how we can make the overwrite function for stuff already on your watchlist without breaking what you have already marked as watched.

  11. Habitica

    I'm sure I'm not the only one with issues with instant gratification as well as finding time to watch movies and TV.

    And seeing as how Habitica is a habit building website with a feature for miscellaneous good and bad things, I could see potential in creating functionality so that when you check off an episode or a movie as watched Habitica rewards you.

    Heck, for extra greatness, there could be functionality for other things on the site, like creating ratings and reviews, which also benefits Simkl for things like that feature for finding friends with TV and Movie compatibility.

  12. Multiple types of list view

    Would be nice to have options to choose how to view a list: 1. Default view with the standard large image thumbnail, 2. A small image thumbnail and title, 3. No image thumbnail at all only the title text.

  14. Fix images

    Alright, so the site that Simkl gets TV show data from, TheTVDB, has recently undergone some changes. Since those changes, images for TV episodes are no longer appearing for some shows- old images that have already been there stay, but any new ones added on TheTVDB will not appear on Simkl.

    One example of a series with this problem would be MasterChef. On Simkl, the latest image shown for season 10 is "Someone's Toast"(https://simkl.com/tv/20473/masterchef-us/episodes/#s10). However, on TheTVDB, the latest image shown is "One Pan Wonder" (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/masterchef-us/seasons/10).

  15. if we could just select watched to multiple movie or series at once

    it would be easy if we don't have to enter every time to change the status of the movie or series or we could just select bunch of them at once to change the status like if i see 3 movie i have already watched selecting them and changing their status to watched.

  17. Image add

    Image for Henry Danger's "The Fate of Danger: Part II" (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/henry-danger/episodes/7608679) (https://simkl.com/tv/52752/henry-danger/season-5/episode-40/) has not loaded in on Simkl. Thought it had to do with me setting the show to 'ended' on TheTVDB, but that didn't fix it. It's the only episode of Henry Danger whose image isn't up on Simkl. Once this is fixed, series should be all complete on here. Thanks in advance.

  18. Add options for whole Collections

    Can you add the option to mark the whole collection as watched, plant o watch, etc. so that when creating a new account or whenever browsing the collection user could mark the whole collection as watched or plan to watch. Hope you Understand.

  19. TV Show Type

    Lists V2 allows selections based on TV Show Type. The listed show types are TV Series, Animation, Entertainment, Documentary and Youtube. What's the source of this show type?

    I basically only want to see scripted shows. Even when I only select TV Series, and exclude all other types, Australian sports show Formula 1 (amazingly ranked #16 all time) is still displayed. So are variety shows like The Carol Burnett Show. If I scrolled down far enough, even reality TV shows may be listed.

    While the idea is great, the underlying info sucks. Please consider extracting the show type from TV…
