How can we improve Simkl?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Ability to preview and selectively choose data to be imported

    When using the Trakt import for example it would be great if we could preview the data that will be imported and any changes it might make to existing watch history in Simkl, with the ability to approve or reject individual additions and changes.

    (Similar to how file syncing software allows the user to approve or ignore file modifications, overwrites and additions, before actually running the sync process.)

  4. more TVTIME alike feature

    so i recently came to this site from app.tvtime and they were very good but now they are gone this website is as close of a good website as them now it need more improvement and if you guys try to do some slimier stuff like apptvtime your website will be better for user attraction

  5. On-site Notification Center for New Releases

    Simkl currently supports email and push notifications for new episodes, films, and anime, but some may find these channels overwhelming or easy to miss. E-Mails get buried in crowded inboxes, and mobile push notifications are quickly dismissed and forgotten.

    Thus the idea to introduce a dedicated, persistent notification system directly on the Simkl website.

    Key Features:
    - On-site Notification Center / Meta Box
    A clickable icon (e.g. bell) in the header or sidebar showing the number of unread notifications.
    - Structured History View
    A full-page view listing all past notifications grouped by date and type (TV, anime, movie), with filters…

    A place within the statistics to show most watched actors/actresses. And then maybe personal recommendations based on those specific people you have watched before

  7. Show voice actors etc. based on the users set language

    Pay tribute to those whose voices make not only Animes come to life, but also transfer jokes to our mother tongue. Never ask yourself again where you know that voice from.

    Sorted or filtered by language, maybe a setting in the user settings that uses the browsers language as default. Fallback could be English.

  11. After import, I can't see what was not imported

    I imported one of my anime trakt lists but it then says "4 not anime" but there's no way to find out what they are! A larger issue is then just to allow us to have multi-medium lists. I don't unsterstand why they have to be discretely separated into TV, Movies, or Anime

  12. In calendar view, Tuesday never shows up.

    In my calendar view, the day "Tuesday" never shows up and subsequently shows & movies that air on Tuesday never show up in my calendar.

    Does anyone else have this problem and can this be investigated?

  13. Future content can't be marked as planned to watch

    Was looking for a way to add this show to upcoming content to watch when it releases. https://simkl.com/tv/2993769/odd-jobs/season-1/episode-1/
    Best I can do is select watching now and hope it recomends or notification pops to watch an episode at some point.

  14. Widgets, Simkl Calender, and other options

    I had used the calendar export and added it to my Samsung calendar. That's a nice addition but now I have a cluttered calendar, making it rough to see meetins and appointmens.

    If simkl app had its own widget, we could have a separate simkl calendar on its own tile/page.

    Could even add some widgets for lists, sort of like Samsung notes where we can edit/add/remove.

  16. Movie bingo

    what if you could create a bingo board as a minigame with movies from your ptw or from your recommendations and you get points for clearing it
    there would be leaderboard with people that cleared the most cards

    easier way would be just getting 3 random movies and clearing them. if you do, you get a point, if you skip at least one, you can reroll (once per 3 days let's say) and lose progress

    Hello,

    it would be really useful if SIMKL could provide official API endpoints for browsing and reading public lists and user custom lists.

    • custom lists
    • most liked / trending lists
    • user-created lists
    • reading the actual contents of a list

    It would be great to have endpoints that allow developers to:
    * fetch list metadata
    * browse lists
    * browse user custom lists
    * retrieve all items inside a list

  18. UI improvements: sharpness images/icons

    At the moment there are a bunch of icons/images that don't support retina screens (@3x). They look blurry on for example your iPhone or Mac. Ideally all icons are used as SVG (which most are already) or if its not possible to use SVG support at least @3x png versions.

  19. Movie not appearing on profile

    The movie Kubi (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27502365/) doesn't show on the plan-to-watch or completed lists. It was also hard to find on a normal search (I had to use the imdb tag).

  20. Add a category or whatever that when a season is finished don't leave there on the watching list

    On the watching section there are many series that are finished that maybe they will have an upcoming season or the show is still airing, but they should not be put on the watching list, put them somewhere else, it is not correct to put them all together. It is very confusing
