How can we improve Simkl?

  1. Being able to filter movie lists by director, writer, producer, star etc

    For example, if I want to see which directors are most represented in the movies I've watched, and from there I can work out which movies of theirs I haven't seen yet

  3. Add a planner/scheduler feature

    Here's an idea: you guys could add a feature through which users can plan/set goals for what and when they want to watch. For example, tomorrow I want to watch two episodes of Friends, the next day The Shining, then the day after three episodes of Attack On Titan...
    Or it could also have something like: By the end of this month I want to have finished Season 3 of The Walking Dead, every Christopher Nolan movie, Full Metal Alchemist...

  4. Please add an option to customize posters

    Please add an option to customize tv show and movie posters, so users can set posters and banners according to their preference.

  5. Customizable Overview Page

    More ways to customize your overview page. Like moving sections, adding new sections (like a favourites section or reviews section), adding images and text. Kinda like the steam profile page and how its so customizable.

  6. Stop using AI to create advertising and marketing assets

    Y'all should know better than using the art plagiarism machine to promote a website dedicated to the appreciate of art. And if you try to censor anyone dissenting on this you're just gonna ensure that they never, ever support your site.

  7. Auto drop series after x time

    A feature to put series that the users haven't watched after a while to "dropped" this would make the "dropped" status used much more.

    Best way would be to let the user decide the "time limit" and if the user wants it or not. It should also only count series that have new aired episodes that the user haven't watched to avoid problems when waiting for a new season.

  8. Add symbol before title in iPhone app

    Add symbol before title in search entries to know if it's already in the list and in which list; for example a star for plan to watch, a green circle for completed, etc.

    I'd love to have an option where I can choose on which platforms I'm watching.
    Like Boxes to tick.

    It will be good if the system can/will predicts your ratings for an unrated show/anime/movie before you actually rated it. That way, you know if the system predicts your taste well or not.

  16. Add a playlist/subscribe feature for things like the MCU that have many titles being released that should be watched in a certain order.

    It would be nice if you could choose to have new titles from the MCU automatically added to your watchlist. Also if you could view a calendar specifically of that universe to make sure you are watching in the right order. For example, the DC superhero shows from the CW overlap episode by episode instead of season by season, which can be a nightmare to manage. Or another example would be Star Wars Clone Wars which inexplicably released episodes out of order, but someone in the Simkl community could create a playlist that has the shows in the right order.

  18. Dub completion notifications + dub filter and infos in general

    Hey! I was referred here by Azmarine from the forum. I'm a VIP member and honestly one of those people who recommends SIMKL to basically everyone I know, so this comes from a good place!

    There's one thing that's been genuinely frustrating me for a while though. I watch a lot of shows and anime dubbed, and SIMKL only notifies me when something finished airing, not when the dub is done. It sounds minor but it really isn't. I get excited about a new show or season, start watching, get invested after like 4 episodes and then the dub just…

  19. Ratings/Stars should also have a word value like MAL

    When you hover over the stars to rate a show, the associated star should also have a word value just like in MAL.

    e.g.

    10* Masterpiece
    9* Great
    8* Very good
    7* Good
    6* Fine

  20. Scrobble videos watched from other sources

    not everyone uses paid services such as hulu, amazon or netflix.
    free streaming websites should be added, such as:
    watch-series.to
    streamtuner.ag
    shush.se
    watchcartoononline.com
    watchfree.to
    etc.

    many of these free websites are pulling their video links from online storage websites such as putlocker.is
    some of these websites get taken down and come back, or new ones appear. and the videos get taken down, and put back up with a different link.

    in order to track and scrobble these, id suggest inferring from the the video name, or video link, as well using their fingerprint software/hashing the video. could be done as…
