How can we improve Simkl?

  3. Personal recommendations based on personal ratings

    Currently, Simkl generates recommendations based on what you've watched. It would be much better to build recommendations based on personal ratings. For example, I don't want to see something similar that I marked as 1-5, for example, which is kind of more logical.

  4. Movie Edition Relationships

    Much like how Anime entries can show “Directly Related” or “Indirectly Related” series, the Movies page should also highlight special editions and alternate cuts.

    By introducing relational links for various movie versions—such as Extended Edition, Director’s Cut, Blu-ray Edition, Uncensored, and Unrated—users can easily see every variant in one place.

    Suggested Edition Categories:

    • Extended Edition

    • Director’s Cut

    • Blu-ray Edition

    • Uncensored Edition

    • Unrated Version

    • And few more...

    Examples of Related Editions:

    • Spider-Man: No Way Home

    • Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version

    • Spider-Man: No Way Home – Extended Edition

    • The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the…

  5. Gifting SIMKL VIP Subscription

    Wouldn’t it be fantastic if users could gift a year of VIP status to someone else?

    If this option isn’t available already, adding it could significantly boost the community’s growth.

    Imagine SIMKL VIP or PRO members having the ability to send a SIMKL VIP/Pro subscription gift to their eligible long time followers or following or close friends.

    • Users can make this gifting private or announce publicly (share) in activity.
    • Special Badge received to the (Buyer)
    • Special Notification alert

  6. Customizable Rating Date/Time

    Currently there is no option to be able to set any “Custom Watched” date hopefully it will be available soon, but the rating date is always locked to “now.”

    That often creates confusion—especially if you watched something weeks ago and only just gave it a score.

    Consider adding an option where, When you mark a title as “Watched” (and haven’t rated it yet),

    • you’re prompted to rate it immediately, with the rating date automatically matching your watched date.

    • At minimum, providing a way to manually edit the rating date would be a big improvement. (When you rated this)

  7. Historical Popularity Metrics (e.g., “Peak Rating Charts / Ranking”)

    A user maintains a personal library of movies and TV shows and wants to uncover which titles were exceptionally popular at any point in time—rather than only seeing their current standing.

    For example, among 100 saved films, some may have once ranked in the Top 10, even if they’re no longer trending today.

    Offering a way to sort and filter by historical popularity would help surface those past hits.

    Suggested Metrics:

    • Peak Rank: The highest position a title ever achieved on the charts.

    • Duration at Peak Rank: Number of days/weeks a title remained at its all-time best position.

  10. Multiple profiles in one account

    I would love to have 2 profiles in my account. At this moment I have the SImkl account for content I've seen in English language. And additionally I have a trakt account for content I've seen in my own language (German). To combine it in one account would be a dream for me!

    You can use Auto lists or saved Layoutts with filter in V2 Beta in one account - create a filter of your watchlist + Language filter

  13. Weekday names

    When visiting https://simkl.com/tv/today/ and scrolling backwards through time, start off clicking "Yesterday", then "Previous Day" repeatedly. That's not easy, because the target keeps bouncing around under the mouse pointer. Two ways to make this better: 1) Put "Previous Day" on the left and "Next Day" on the right, with the date in the middle. 2) Keep all the weekday names the same size by either abbreviating to three letters or space-filling the shorter ones (i.e. Sunday is "{sp}{sp}{sp}Sunday" so it's the same length as "Wednesday")

  16. Add V2 Preview menu / Watch now on buttons to Posters on Dashboard

    I would like to have the V2 Preview menu on the dashboard for posters like in the image below. When you click on the play button it should show you the "Watch now on" menu as usual but for tv shows and anime it should you show episode links instead of tv show links.

    I want to have more control over how many custom lists I have to scroll through to find things.
    I would like a way to hide/delete custom lists (particularly the AI recommendation lists) to reduce clutter.

  18. UX enhancement - Unify the search box

    Summary : Users are dumb, help them and reduce the simkl teams support workload.

    The vast majority of support threads are along the lines of "My show/movie/animie" is not listed

    🔹 Missing - 68 support threads
    🔹 Missing Movie - 244 support threads
    🔹 Missing tv show - 358 support threads

    If the search results were unified i.e. searching for "Utopia" gives the result for the TV Show, The Movie and The Anime, in one place, reducing the number of "my thing is missing / please add it" threads would be reduced.

  19. More informations/options in the "Airing Next" on the Dashboard

    Hello!
    I would love to have more informations or options to customize the "Airing Next" panel on my Dashboard.
    A few examples :
    - An option to add "airing next" shows that I haven't started yet but are in my watchlist and "plan to watch list" (I think right now it's just the premiere showing up if I don't start watching it?)
    - Seeing which episode is going to air next

    In my case, for some tv shows I like to wait until most episodes are out (or all of them) and I know if it's episode 10/12/16 it's probably…
