1. Apple TV and Android TV app

   Please make an app for Apple TV. Something like SIMKL Lists adapted to tvOS from iOS would be adequate. But ideally something more along the lines of what Trakt provides in their 2 series apps. Ideally I could replicate the flows I currently use w/ Trakt.

   • Ability to navigate to a show/movie, view seasons, and individual episodes.
   • a button from the series, season, or episode to watch the show -- pressing watch button on show would pop up either the first season or first ep in app or Plex or Infuse -- pressing watch button on season would drop you in the season in app or Plex or Infuse -- pressing watch button on episode would drop you in the episode or the season w/ the ep and ideally having it chosen in app or Plex or Infuse
   • add/remove items from a watchlist or any other custom lists
   • search for shows/movies/actors, etc.
     
   • bonus would be able to add tags to any of the above (which would help replace the functionality of Library/Collection in Trakt).
   • ability to arbitrarily order Watch/To Watch lists to create a custom queue (or at least the ability to create a queue perhaps as a separate list).
   • ability to set state, watched, watching, queued, etc.

3. Allow marking a show as "Completed" without marking every episode as watched

   Currently, marking a show as completed automatically flags all of its episodes as watched. For many shows this is fine, but it doesn't fit how people actually watch certain series.
   For anime especially, a lot of episodes aren't essential viewing, filler arcs, recap/summary episodes, side stories, and so on. Plenty of viewers intentionally skip these but still consider the show "finished." Right now there's no way to reflect that: I either have to mark episodes I never watched, or leave the show as incomplete even though I've seen everything I wanted to.

4. "Collected" tag/flag for episodes

   Trakt used to do this for me, then then broke it and then... well, we all know what's happening with that dumpster fire!

   Essentially all I'm after is a way to track episodes / movies that I have in my collection (ie have ripped / downloaded). I don't care about format (VHS, 720p, 4K... doesn't matter), just that I have it. A tick box to say "got it" is all I need.

   A count of episodes (so I can easily spot missing ones) would be an additional lovely thing to have.

5. UX enhancement - Unify the search box

   Summary : Users are dumb, help them and reduce the simkl teams support workload.

   The vast majority of support threads are along the lines of "My show/movie/animie" is not listed

   🔹 Missing - 68 support threads
   🔹 Missing Movie - 244 support threads
   🔹 Missing tv show - 358 support threads

   If the search results were unified i.e. searching for "Utopia" gives the result for the TV Show, The Movie and The Anime, in one place, reducing the number of "my thing is missing / please add it" threads would be reduced.

   Lets assume that most users will not click through to the "genre tab" / simkltvsubmenu . Users are conditioned to click on search and getting a jumble of results, on one page that they scroll down on. The moment they start scrolling down the, "genre" tabs on top of the page disappear, and users assume that the visible results they are scrolling through are all there is. Even if the "genre tab" was persistent while scrolling, a lot of users will not click to the next tab, because they have been taught that new results / new things appear when you scroll down 🤷

   The current search flow design is logical and elegant.Sadly the vast majority of users are neither logical nor elegant, ( starting with me 😃 ).

   Summary : Users are dumb, help them and reduce the simkl teams support workload.

6. Personal recommendations based on personal ratings

   Currently, Simkl generates recommendations based on what you've watched. It would be much better to build recommendations based on personal ratings. For example, I don't want to see something similar that I marked as 1-5, for example, which is kind of more logical.

8. Dub completion notifications + dub filter and infos in general

   Hey! I was referred here by Azmarine from the forum. I'm a VIP member and honestly one of those people who recommends SIMKL to basically everyone I know, so this comes from a good place!

   There's one thing that's been genuinely frustrating me for a while though. I watch a lot of shows and anime dubbed, and SIMKL only notifies me when something finished airing, not when the dub is done. It sounds minor but it really isn't. I get excited about a new show or season, start watching, get invested after like 4 episodes and then the dub just stops. Sometimes there aren't even subs available until a dub exists. This happens to me multiple times a month and every time it stings a little more considering how much I love this platform otherwise.

   What I'd love to see:

   A "dub completed" notification option separate from airing, a filter to check whether something is even dubbed at all, and more dub info on show and episode pages in general. Like being able to see how many episodes are already dubbed, which languages are available and so on. Right now that info is just missing and it makes it hard to plan what to watch.

   Would be great to hear if the team has any of this on their radar!

9. Option to choose if you want separate tabs or combined.

   So, when I'm looking for something to watch, I'd like the option to combine everything (TV, Movies & Anime) instead of having to go to each tab and search through them. Would it be possible to get an option where we can combine all three on the discovery/recommendation page? I'd also like lists to be combined, too, instead of having to separate them.

10. Distinguished filters for physical media & digital releases

    Currently in the lists, the “DVD” filter combines digital releases and physical media (in this regard, this label is misleading and should be renamed if it is to be kept).
    I suggest adding (or replace by) distinguished filters for physical media releases only then for digital releases / VOD.

11. Add option to list only free streaming, not ones you have to pay for.

    I love that I can choose movies that are already streaming so I can easily pick my next movie for the night. I also love that I can choose all the apps I have and it tells me where I can watch the movie I want. What I would love is to be able to see which movies are free on one of the streaming apps I already have, rather than having to click on the movie and then finding out that it's on Prime but I have to pay $19.99 to stream it.

12. When selecting "Marked as watched" have a confirmation before removing the watch history

    Hi there. I've come from Trakt and I'm still getting used to things. When I saw "Marked as watched" on something I had seen, I selected it. The expected result was that it would show me when I had seen it. The actual result was that it unmarked it as watched, and deleted the history. Now I know how it works I'll avoid it, however, I think it would be a good idea to have a "are you sure you want to delete all watch history for this episode/movie?" confirmation.

    Maybe even a 5 second timer after where you have an "undo" button while the loading bar of 5 seconds counts down.

14. Social Watch Activity: Which Friends Are Watching / Recently Watched Episode or Film

    I would love to see SIMKL introduce a more social “watch activity” system for movies, TV episodes, and anime episodes.

    Right now, we can already see friend ratings, but it would be amazing if SIMKL expanded this into real-time and recent viewing activity.

    1. Show who is currently watching

    For a movie, TV episode, or anime episode, display:

    • Which users are currently watching it
    • How many people are currently watching
    • How many of your friends (followers/following) are currently watching

    Example:

    • “63 people watching”
    • “5 of your friends are watching now”

    This would make SIMKL feel much more alive and social.

    2. Show recent watch activity

    Add a section like:

    • “Recently watched by friends”
    • “Friends who watched this in the last 24h / 7d / 30d”

    This would help users discover trending content among their own social circle instead of only relying on global popularity.

    Example:

    • “Andrew watched this yesterday”
    • “3 friends finished this episode this week”

    3. Improve the Friend Ratings panel

    The current friend ratings section is nice, but it could become much more useful with extra controls.

    Suggested improvements:

    Add a limit selector
    - Show 5 / 10 / 20 friends

    Sort ratings by:
    - Most recently watched
    - Highest rating
    - Closest friends
    - Most active users

    Show:
    - Last watched date
    - Rewatch count
    - Watching status
    -- Watching
    -- Completed
    --- Rewatching

    Add hover tooltip or quick profile preview

    Example:

    • “Rated 9 • Watched 2 days ago”

15. Enable adding TV episodes (not just seasons) to lists

    One of the things the disastrous Trakt v3 upgrade killed was the ability to add individual TV show episodes to lists. I used that feature extensively and losing it was one of the last straws that caused me to fire them.

    This is useful in a lot of different scenarios, like for listing actor/actress appearances in filmography lists.

    One of my favorite applications was curating lists of holiday-themed episodes (like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween episodes) I could refer back to each year when I'm in the mood to watch something season-appropriate. Everybody has Christmas music playlists and many have Christmas movie playlists, but finding Christmas episode playlists for TV shows is not common.

    Loving Simkl thus far and hope you'll agree this would be a useful feature.

17. Optional setting to group related anime seasons and cours into one series

    I recently migrated from TV Time and Trakt, and the way separate anime seasons and cours are structured and displayed on Simkl is currently one of the biggest obstacles for me.

    Many anime that are presented as one show with multiple seasons or continuous episode numbering on services such as Crunchyroll and Trakt are listed as completely separate anime titles on Simkl.

    For example, SPY x FAMILY Season 1 consists of 25 episodes on Crunchyroll and Trakt, while Simkl separates it into two entries with 12 and 13 episodes. I understand that this may follow AniDB’s structure and that the two cours are technically separate database entries.

    However, for everyday tracking, I would really appreciate an optional setting that groups related seasons, cours and sequel entries under one main series while preserving Simkl’s existing season, cour and episode structure.

    Ideally, this optional mode could:

    • show all related seasons and cours on one main series page
    • display combined progress across the entire series
    • make it easier to continue with the correct next episode or season
    • keep future sequel seasons visible in Watching or Next Up
    • allow users to expand the group and view the individual AniDB entries when needed
    • preserve Simkl’s existing internal anime database structure

    This would only need to be an optional display and tracking mode. Users who prefer the current AniDB-style separation could continue using it unchanged.

    I also experienced a separate import mapping issue with SPY x FAMILY, where my watched progress was assigned to the wrong Simkl entry. I understand that grouping related entries would not fix this import issue by itself. However, the current separation makes such mistakes much harder to notice, understand and correct.

    The anime relations feature is helpful, but it does not provide the same experience as having one persistent series entry with all related seasons, cours and sequel entries, together with combined progress.

    An optional grouping system for related anime seasons, cours and sequel entries would make anime tracking on Simkl much clearer, more reliable and easier to manage, regardless of whether a user is migrating from another service or starting from scratch.

    For me, this is more than just a cosmetic preference. Reliable season grouping, progress tracking and handling of future sequel seasons are important for trusting a service as a long-term home for my watch history.

    At the moment, the current anime structure is one of the main reasons I am still unsure whether I can use Simkl permanently as my primary tracking service.

    Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe an optional solution like this would make Simkl significantly more accessible without taking away the existing AniDB-based structure from users who prefer it.

20. See all comments posted by a user similar to how History works

    Would be great if we had an option to view all comments (that we leave) just as we can view our history, similar to a certain website called trakt.tv (which has recently gone to shaite, unfortunately) excuse my language, silly me.
    But anyhow, viewing all of our comments plus the ability to import them from trakt would be a huge plus, thanks!
