How can we improve Simkl?

  1. Add a playlist/subscribe feature for things like the MCU that have many titles being released that should be watched in a certain order.

    It would be nice if you could choose to have new titles from the MCU automatically added to your watchlist. Also if you could view a calendar specifically of that universe to make sure you are watching in the right order. For example, the DC superhero shows from the CW overlap episode by episode instead of season by season, which can be a nightmare to manage. Or another example would be Star Wars Clone Wars which inexplicably released episodes out of order, but someone in the Simkl community could create a playlist that has the shows in the right order.

  2. Share episode rate and comments to Twitter

    I know you recently improved the Twitter integration by supporting rate sharing, but it would be great to improve this further by sharing TV episodes rate and comments, just like Trakt TV. Trakt also allows to rate single seasons, so it could be a good addition.

  3. collaborative watch lists

    would love to be able to create a collaborative watch list/tracker with another user, a shared list that both users can edit. great for people in a long distance relationship who want to watch together remotely and keep track of what they watch together!

  4. Mark watched first episode of a show

    In the mobile app, I can mark an episode as watched from the Watching list. Nice! But it doesn't work for the first episode of a show: It doesn't open the expanded view with the Mark as Watched button, but immediately opens the show details where I have to manually go to the season list, then the episode list, then mark the first one as watched. Only after that will the quick mark watched feature work.

  5. Auto drop series after x time

    A feature to put series that the users haven't watched after a while to "dropped" this would make the "dropped" status used much more.

    Best way would be to let the user decide the "time limit" and if the user wants it or not. It should also only count series that have new aired episodes that the user haven't watched to avoid problems when waiting for a new season.

  6. Mobile Website vs the Mobile App

    The mobile website is very aesthetically pleasing to look at but the app is so bland and boring by comparison, I included a side by side pic. Itd be nice if the app was updated to look like the mobile site. Also, please add a way for us to update our watching from the homepage of the mobile site. Currently on the mobile site you have to tap on a show and go to another page to update your watched episodes but we should be able to do that right from the homepage.     Right now you can add the website to your Home screen which will work as an app on your phone. Here’s how:

    iPad or iPhone
    Launch Safari app. *Please note that this does not work from the “Chrome” app.

    Enter into the address field the https://simkl.com URL of the website you want to create a shortcut to. Tap Go.

    Tap the icon featuring a right-pointing arrow coming out of a box along the top of the Safari window to open a drop-down menu.

    Tap Add to Home Screen. The “Add to Home” dialog box will appear, with the icon that will be used for this website on the left side of the dialog box.

    Enter the name for the shortcut using the on-screen keyboard and tap Add. Safari will close automatically and you will be taken to where the icon is located on your iPad’s desktop.

  7. Support localization for weekly watched stats

    Please allow tu customize the weekly watched stats tweet just like the other tweets. Default tweet is in English.

    You can sync Netflix using https://simkl.com/apps/import/netflix/


    Amazon:

    Unfortunately if you watch a trailer or 1 minute of the episode or movie on Amazon, it will also say that you watched it, so can't use it. Amazon also has security password  questions often, so not easy to update in background.


    When you find a page with a watch history on any of the requested services, please let us know at support@simkl.com. For now, none of them have an API or a page with your watch history.

  9. Full support for Spanish language and Bilingual content

    Spanish is the fastest growing language in the USA and is also one of the fastest growing languages in the world. A great deal of this content is available with English audio or subtitles.

    Many streaming platforms are adding a lot of Spanish and/or Bilingual content (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc.) due to the increase in market share.

  10. More info on ended or cancelled shows

    After I end a season of a show first thing I want to know is will there be another season.. perhaps a like to sites like ismyshowcancelled.com or similar. Maybe even a feed back on should it be cancelled or why was it cancelled.

    Also on web page that asks for rating.. why can’t you link to the show directly to give it the rating.. or rate right there..

    Also need choice to remove anime something I don’t use.

  11. Add an option to pick the date of something that has been watched

    Add an option to put and change the date when a movie has been watched and in the cases when the date is not known to let it be in blanck. In case of the series and anime, to select the date of the last time an episode has been watched or when a serie has finished

    App icon in status bar is almost white, when the background is white it just disappears.

    Hello, i would like to:

    1.Add some movies/ tv shows here, without any app instalation or a registration toanother website
    2.Comunicate with other users here, without any app instalation or a registration to another website
    3.See some movie/tv show recommendations for me - personally, from everything that I have watched (not just finding similarities to one exact movie or show)
    4.See the list of tv shows EPISODES that i rated
    5.See the list of the best/ most rated episodes of all shows
    6.A possibility to search episodes by those "emotion" votes (funny, sad, etc.)
    7.A possibility to change movie/tv show…

  18. Block specific languages in suggestions

    I find it really annoying that I get Indian, Chinese, Russian or French spoken language titles coming up regularly in my suggested movie options. The only mildly bollywood film I've ever watched is 'bend it like beckam', however ever since watching it I get loads of Indian language suggestions. I like anime, so suddenly I get Chinese language live action titles. I speak German, so I'm Ok with German titles but for some reason I also get inundated with French ones? I've no idea why its suggesting Russian.

    Is is possible to block specific languages from suggestions? Can I just…

  19. Change history check from every 5 mins to daily or weekly sync.

    Allow an option to change when the extension performs a sync of watch list. I think daily or weekly is sufficient .
