Create a mixed lists with content from TV Shows and Movies
I have seen that you guys are focusing on the new UI and filtering of the lists with the new V2 Beta. There is a simple thing you can do to save space and have better optimized lists and that is to create a mixed list with TV Shows and Movies content together.
Why? Because if I want to create a custom list about "TOP romance-comedy" genre, I would have to create 2 lists, one for TV Shows and other for movies, because in the TV Shows romance-comedy list, I would not be able to add movies, the same goes…
1 voteThanks for your detailed suggestion and kind words. 😊 While we totally understand the convenience of mixed lists, unfortunately, it's not feasible because TV Shows, Movies, and Anime each have unique filters, sorting options, and genre categorizations. Combining them would cause conflicts with how these rankings and data are organized.
Instead, we recommend using Custom List Collections! By simply adding "(TV Shows)" or "(Movies)" at the end of your list names, you can connect them seamlessly. This creates links between your lists, making navigation super easy while keeping the data separate.
You can check out our full tutorial on Custom List Collections here: https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/core-features/watchlists-and-custom-lists/custom-list-collections.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more ideas. 😊

Wrong Categorization
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is not an Anime. However it is categorised into Anime Section..
1 voteIt's pushing it's limits claiming anime, that's true, but it still belongs here as 3d CGI anime See https://screenrant.com/resident-evil-infinite-darkness-cg-anime-look-difference/ which is also available on MAL, Anilist and Anidb.

Addressing shows with variable running time per episode
I think running time per episode should be adjusted for TV shows and anime. This is because it only addresses either average or even minimum running time, thus making time spent watching not fully accurate. Running time should instead be calculated on a per episode basis, so as to address longer or shorter than average episodes.
1 voteThere is no data on a per-episode basis. In 98% of cases, each episode of the show is filmed with the same runtime.

Only two seasons
According to IMDB and Netflix there are four seasons.
https://simkl.com/tv/751254/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina1 voteNetflix has 4 parts but only 2 seasons.
The first half of the first season, consisting of ten episodes, was released on October 26, 2018. The series received positive reviews, with critics praising Shipka’s performance, as well as the premise, visuals, and directing. A Christmas special episode was released on December 14, 2018, and the second half of the first season was released on April 5, 2019, consisting of nine episodes. In December 2018, Netflix renewed the series for a second season consisting of 16 episodes, split into two equal parts, of which the first eight episodes were released on January 24, 2020, with the second set released on December 31, 2020. In July 2020, Netflix cancelled the series.

"My List" small bug
I think it's a bug.
To recreate it:
-go to TV, Anime, Movies
-click on My list (so that it's marked with a blue line at the bottom), and genres will be marked as well. (bug)
-click on anything else, like Coming soon, and now genres are no longer marked, but both Coming soon and My list are
The only way to have My List unmarked is to go to TV/Anime/Movies (bug).1 voteThis is technically a link to Genres with a filter of your shows at the moment. Will be removed in Lists V2.

The Haunting / The Haunting of Hill House / The Haunting of Bly Manor
This isn't very important, but since I already found this little issue...
In SIMKL database there are two seasons of a show titled "The Haunting"
https://simkl.com/tv/832722/the-haunting
Additionaly there's:
https://simkl.com/tv/1435242/the-haunting-of-hill-house
And:
https://simkl.com/tv/1453318/a-maldição-da-mansão-bly
No episodes were added in those two and one is in portugese (according to Google Translate it means "The Curse of Bly Mansion").According to both Netflix and IMDB there are two separate shows:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6763664/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10970552/:)
1 voteDuplicates removed. It is one show on https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-haunting

when more than 1 episode air in the same day, only one notification is sent
Hello,
it happened last week with the season premier of Cosmos season 2: in the same evening they were 2 episodes airing: E01 and E02, but only one notification was sent, for E01.Please send notifications for all aired episodes
1 voteThis is by design. When Netflix releases 12 episodes we do not spam with 12 notifications and instead only sending the first episode notification that you need to watch it first. You will see in your dashboard all released and missed episodes.

Tracking files when played from Network HDD / LAN not working
Doesn't start tracking the episodes when played via LAN
1 voteYes, the Windows driver for the tracker app cannot read hdd buffer speeds to know how much you watched from the network drive. Try using plex setup with plex webhook https://simkl.com/apps/plex/

Create a Firefox-based tracker extension.

Fix time "spent watching" tv shows
No matter what show I watch, each episode adds 40 minutes to my time "spent watching," even if the episode is less than 40 minutes long. The time spent watching should reflect how long episodes are, not just take the number of episodes watched and multiply by 40 minutes. Also, the shows in the "plan to watch" shouldn't count towards time spent watching since I haven't watched them yet.
1 voteTo get data on every episode to multiply by exact minutes would take a lot of resources and time to load the page will be a minute instead of 1 second. For that reason, we are using approximate calculations based on average episode times.

Device or software glitch
I am one of your product testers and I have had some trouble actually watching shows on the application, all I have found is a review button and links to shows but unless it a software or device issue I have yet to watch anything on this application. Based on these issues and as much as I am on the go this is not something I would use. Would you prefer me to post this to your application for feedback or post for review or can it be addressed here. Thank you for your time.
1 voteSimkl is not an app to watch shows. Currently, Simkl does not have options to watch all TV Shows, Anime or Movies. However, Simkl provides links for Netflix, Hulu and Crunchyroll where you can watch the TV shows and Anime.
Simkl helps you track what you’re watching and discover new shows & movies. We have built the Simkl™ TV Tracker for passionate people who like to watch TV Shows, Anime and Movies on their computers, and who are tired of manually tracking all shows that they watch using outdated manual watchlists. For people who are geeky enough to want a hi-tech automated Watchlist solution no matter how you watch – download video files on your computer or watch streaming video online, on Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, etc…

Remove Anime As a Category
Sort the anime into 'cartoons' in tv and movies. It's like giving Reality TV its own category or Cooking Shows its own category.
1 voteAnime are not cartoons but a large genre of Japanese animation. It deserves it’s own category.

Don't hardcode process detection, use a list or option field.
It seems the TV Tracker app simply monitors the running "known" player processes names, since renaming the zoomplayer.exe to MPC-HC.exe worked and scrobbling than worked too.
This is really "bad" design, instead of hardcoding the process names just put them in a simple text/xml file or add a option in the tray icon. This way you can support any player and version, without the need to update the internal hardcoded list everytime.
1 voteThanks for the tip, cool trick. Good to know that worked. But the tracker has different ways of tracking for each video player with different file buffer readings, HDD settings, app closure, pause stop detection etc.

Not planned in the near future. Licence costs are in billion dollars per quarter to be able to provide such option. We don’t posses such budget right now. However we’re working towards being able to do that.
